-DK's Realm-- "...nothing but a breath - a comma - separates life from life everlasting. It is very simple really. With the original punctuation restored, death is no longer something to act out on stage, with exclamation points. It's a comma, a pause...Life, death. Soul, God. Past, present. Not insuperable barriers, not semi colons, just a comma... " -

Its about time WE, the students took charge...

Musharraf, declared martial law on the people of Pakistan on the 3rd of November, calling it a state of emergency - a needed action to curb the militant and terrorist attacks that are plaguing the nation. He destroyed all hopes of a better future for our people, for us, by adhering to his selfish needs and simple power hungriness.

Pakistan has been bestowed with the most corrupt and useless leaders the world has seen, and if that was not enough we have now been bestowed with an idiot moron and weak one. During his 8 years in power, Pakistan has seen "immense growth", at the price of increasing income disparity, increasing unemployment, increasing inflation, numerous suicide bombings, useless killings, mass murders, the Lal Masjid incident, missing persons - converting the already beaten down Pakistan into nothing more than a tool for the western nations to do their dirty work for them. What respect are we to show to a man who comes on national TV and bows down to the US, and rather than explaining his rash actions to the people of Pakistan (who he DOESN'T represent) makes excuses to the west.

He stated: I have been ashamed having to explain the actions of our people to the west. To which I say: We, the people of Pakistan have been ashamed because of YOU and no one else...a leader who is weak enough to not be able to curb violence in his own country and rather blame it on anyone and everyone else...that leader is weak and unworthy of his position...

In 8 saloon mein tum kuch nahi kar paye, to ab kia karnamey injaam do gein...Jeenay do...

We are not fooled, this is not a decision made by placing PAKISTAN FIRST, rather its all for you and your gains...You do not get to decide what is better for us...You do not get to choose.

Today, some students from my university, LUMS, went to the Lahore High Court to attend a protest with several 1000 lawyers. It is prohibited to bring force into the high court building - yet today, these peaceful protestors were not only arrested, they were tear gassed (a substance banned even in wars), they were beaten, they were verbally abused...in the house of justice, justice was broken down.Today, the initiative was taken by students at LUMS, who protested within the campus and will continue to do so till Musharraf steps down...on Thursday, we hope that universities all over Pakistan will together arrange protests in their respective universities to test waters - Join Us. And then we will head to the streets...we will march, we will scream, we will protest...we will not quietly fade into the night, this is our right - this is our right.

We have been denied a right to democracy, to properly elect a government that represents us and not an institution (military). We are denied a HUMAN right and are thus declared Animals. We are not animals, and neither are we backward, or idiots or illiterates who don't deserve representation. We reserve the right to make our own mistakes and learn, we don't need a parental head telling us what HE thinks is right for us. We deserve our human, civil and judicial rights. We deserve it all and We will get them back. Musharraf, you are but a man, not God, and its about time you realized this. You may have crippled the media, you may have crippled the judiciary, but you cannot cripple us, the students, the future of this country, of this Pakistan.

Pray for our country, for the dark times ahead, for the light at the end of the tunnel to brighten...Our grand parents saw Ayub (brought down by people like us - the students!), our parents saw Zia, we have seen Musharraf...Lets not let our kids see this bleak future. Lets not be ashamed when we tell them about the history of our country and the role we played. Lets not be ashamed and be able to tell them of the sacrifices we made. Lets not be ashamed and rather be proud, proud to belong to a nation so beautiful, a nation that deserves better and a nation that is safe and a home for not only us but our future generations as well. Its about time somebody did something - and that somebody is nobody else, but us.
